The Workshop on Register Labelling and Symposium on Register-Grammar in Chinese is to be held from April 7^th?to April 9^th, 2016, with the sponsorship from the School of Humanities and Social Science, CUHK(SZ) and CUHK-BLCU Joint Research Centre for Chinese Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.

This workshop is intended as an opportunity to review the progress in the previous stage of register annotation and formulate plans for the following step in order to standardize identification for expressions with register features and conduct research on their distributional characteristics in various contexts. The workshop is expected to benefit not only textbook compilation, but also classroom instruction. As an indispensable component of Chinese teaching, it is crucial to help learners to master expressions with register features according to different targets, occasions, content and purposes. Register grammar, therefore, stands as an important research topic for both first language teaching and second language teaching, which deserves immediate attention and thorough exploration.?
