Spring heralds a new chapter as dawn breaks. As the gentleness and power of spring meet the most profound symphonic works composed by Beethoven, an artistic feast transcending time and space is about to unfold at the Longgang International Arts Centre.
As the grand finale of this year’s “Spring Blossoms” Music Festival concert series, we will present a complete artistic experience combining symphonic performance with artistic dialogue—from world-class symphonic interpretations to intimate conversations with the artist and fellow musicians. Tony Yike YANG

Born in Chongqing, China, and raised in Toronto, Tony Yike YANG first rose to global prominence in 2015 when, at the age of 16, he became the youngest-ever laureate at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, winning Fifth Prize. He has also received top prizes at other major competitions such as the Van Cliburn, Gina Bachauer, Hilton Head, Cooper, and the B?sendorfer and Yamaha USASU.
YANG has performed in nearly 60 countries, appearing in leading venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Seoul Arts Center, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and Koerner Hall in Toronto. As a concerto soloist he has collaborated with orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic, and the Orchestre Métropolitain, earning praise for performances that combine formidable technique with distinctive musical insight. Critics have highlighted the coloristic imagination and individuality of his interpretations, particularly in virtuosic repertoire.
Beyond the concert stage, YANG is deeply committed to community engagement through music. He collaborates with organizations such as Looking at the Stars, presenting concerts in prisons in the United States and Lithuania, and works with Chamber Music Kenya and the Guangdong Disabled Persons’ Federation to expand access to classical music.
YANG studied economics at Harvard University, where he received the Robert Levin Prize in Musical Performance. He currently pursues graduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Arie Vardi, while also serving as Artist-in-Residence at the Ingesund Piano Center in Sweden and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, among other institutions.

Conductor|Cho Ki Jacky WONG

First in Asia and Australia to conduct the complete Beethoven piano concertos from the keyboard, Cho Ki Jacky WONG is the Chief Conductor of Shenzhen Symphony Youth Orchestra and the principal guest conductor of Orquestra Sinfónica AMASING. He was the Chief Conductor of Guangxi Symphony Orchestra and the Assistant Conductor of Hong Kong Sinfonietta.
WONG graduated from the Hong Kong Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree and received his master’s degrees in piano performance and conducting from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. His conducting mentors included, Imre PALL? (Kodály’s godson who himself has studied with Ferenc FRICSAY and worked with KARAJAN and Karl B?HM), Kenneth KIESLER, LI Xincao and Wingsie YIP.
WONG was invited to conduct at the Thailand International Composition Festival in 2024 and 2025, collaborating with Asia / America New Music Institute, Hub New Music, the Seathencity and Mahidol Symphony Orchestra. While in Australia, WONG was the Music Director of the Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra and has conducted the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastern Sydney Chamber Choir and Beecroft Orchestra. He served as assistant conductor to Maestro PALL? in the production of Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera. In Hong Kong and China, WONG has guest conducted Xi’an Symphony Orchestra, Pearl River Symphony Orchestra, Kunming NIE Er Symphony Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, Guangdong Chinese Orchestra, Macao Chinese Orchestra, Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Professional Winds Orchestra.
As an active pianist, WONG has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras in Hong Kong and Australia and he was the winner of the Hong Kong (Asia) Piano Open Competition and the ASKM Gold Coast Open Piano Competition. His repertoire includes the complete Beethoven Piano Concertos, concertos by Mozart, Chopin and Rachmaninov, as well as the Yellow River Piano Concerto. He is also the regular accompanist for renowned flautist Jane RUTTER, with whom he works frequently on national concert tours in Australia.

The Orchestra of The Chinese University of HongKong, Shenzhen

The Orchestra of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen was established in 2015 and officially became a university-level orchestra in 2019. The orchestra has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians from both China and abroad, including ZHAO Cong, DAI Yuqiang, Warren MOK, WEI Song, GAO Song, CHAI Haofu, Tiago NACARATO, and Eliseu SILVA. Since 2021, the orchestra and chamber music rehearsals and performances have been led by Hong Kong conductor and pianist Cho Ki Jacky WONG.
In November 2020, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra launched the University-Group Cooperation Project, which includes the cooperation in courses and performances. In July 2021, the Orchestra was invited to participate in the filming of the promotional video of The Readers II by China Central Television at Pingshan Grand Theatre. In 2022 and 2023, the orchestra received authorization from Tencent to perform music from the game "Honor of Kings" and collaborated with renowned pipa player Zhao Cong, the director of the China National Traditional Orchestra, in a virtual performance of "Crimson Tassel" at Shenzhen Concert Hall, presenting an exhilarating artistic feast.
In 2024, the orchestra was invited to the Convimus International Music Festival in Portugal, traveling to Porto to perform jointly with the local Orquestra Sinfónica AMAZING to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal and the 25th anniversary of the return of Macao. During the opening concert of the Convimus International Music Festival, the orchestra also engaged in a cross-genre collaboration with renowned Portuguese folk singer Tiago NACARATO, interpreting a new fusion of diverse rhythms.
The orchestra is dedicated to promoting the development of classical music on campus, presenting symphony concerts for faculty and students through the "Sunset Concert" series. It also promotes and popularizes classical and modern musical works among local residents, participating in numerous choral concerts at venues such as Shenzhen Poly Theatre, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Longgang Cultural Centre, and the Aquatic Stage at the Universiade Sports Center. Furthermore, the orchestra highly values exchanges and cooperation with musical talents. Through various collaborative projects, it has established connections with renowned musicians from both China and abroad, jointly exploring the infinite possibilities of music and promoting the integration of musical arts from different cultural backgrounds.

The “Spring Blossoms” Music Festival
The “Spring Blossoms” Music Festival at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is thoughtfully curated by the University Arts Centre, bringing together artistic forces from both China and abroad. The festival features a diverse range of performances, including choir, a cappella, orchestral, chamber music, percussion, and ethnic music. Throughout the festival, there will also be music lectures, academic communication, artistic coaching, and charity performances. The aim of the festival is to integrate existing campus music projects and external music resources, promote cross-disciplinary communication and academic guidance, and to create an open, shared, and global-minded platform for artistic communication. Take music as a bridge to connect the world and inspire the soul.
