The NSFC has initiated application for Tianyuan Fund for Mathematics on Shenzhen "Mathematics and Intelligence+" 2023. Details of requirements are as follows:

?

1. Funding fields

This program supports 14 directions, such as Research on large model mechanism based on random matrix limit theory, Mathematical theory and method of large model reduction, Metadata governance method and platform supporting large medical model and other 11 research orientations.

2. Eligibility of applicants

A. Applicants shall meet the following qualifications:

(1) With the experience of undertaking basic research projects;

?(2) Have senior academic title.

B. The research team of the project shall be composed of experts from different fields such as mathematics, medicine and information, and will adopt a two-PI system (in which the first person in charge is the overall leader of the project).

3. Funding amount and duration

The duration is up to five years (the start time should be 1 Jan. 2024 and finish time should be 31 Dec. 2025)?with the funding intensity 2~3 million yuan per project, please refer to?Annex 1?for the detail funding intensity.

4. Procedure of application

? ??Online application

Applicants shall fill out application forms in Chinese online via the application system (?https://grants.nsfc.gov.cn/?) on or after Oct. 13, 2023. Please refer to?Annex 1?for the specific requirements.

In the stage of submission, applicants shall only submit the online application, without submitting any hard copies.

5. Other requirements

A. This program is not subject to the total number limit;

B. Applicants shall? only? apply? for? one? this type of project in 2023;

C. Applicants and participants of this project shall only apply for or participate in the application of one of the 14 research directions;

D. The collaborative institutions involved for one project shall not exceed 2 in number;

E. If the project involves ethics or biosafety issues, applicant shall submit approval documents from the appropriate committees. Any requirements of relevant scientific research reviews, please refer to the CUHKSZ’s research review process of each Committee as attached (Annex 2) and send the required materials and forms to each committee’s email address by?Oct. 12, 2023?for assessment.
