Notification of application for Guangdong Joint Research Fund of Meteorology 2025
The Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong province has initiated the program application for Guangdong Joint Research Fund of Meteorology 2025. Details of application requirements are as follows:

1. Categories
The Meteorological Joint Fund offers two types of projects for 2025: General Projects and Key Projects.
General Project
a. Applicants shall meet the following qualifications:
(1) Applicants should be full-time, in-service personnel at the host institutions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao provincial-level fund (a valid labor contract or equivalent documentation from the host institution must be uploaded in the system).
(2) Hold a doctoral degree or hold an intermediate (or above) professional title.
(3) Grantees of the ongoing Guangdong major research program, key area R&D program, and key project, research team project, major basic research fostering project of Guangdong natural science fund are not allowed to apply for Guangdong Joint Research Fund of Meteorology 2025.
b. The duration is three years with the funding intensity 150,000 RMB per project;

Key Project
a. Applicants shall meet the following qualifications:
(1)Applicants should be full-time, in-service personnel at the host institutions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao provincial-level fund (a valid labor contract or equivalent documentation from the host institution must be uploaded in the system).
(2)Hold?senior academic title;
(3)Have obtained national or Guangdong provincial research projects as PI;
(4) Grantees of the ongoing Guangdong major research program, key area R&D program, and key project, research team project, major basic research fostering project of Guangdong natural science fund are not allowed to apply for Guangdong Joint Research Fund of Meteorology 2025.
b. The duration is three years with the funding intensity 500,000 RMB per project.

2. Application Requirements
a. Application limit
(1) Each applicant shall submit one project of Guangdong Joint Research Fund of?Meteorology?at most in the same year;
(2) Applicants shall only submit no more than two applications for provincial research projects in the same year;
(3) The total number of Guangdong provincial research projects a researcher undertakes as the PI should not exceed three?(excluding?institution/platform grants like provincial laboratories, universal-policy-based projects, and post-subsidy projects);
(4) The total number of Provincial Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund projects a researcher undertakes as PI must not exceed two;
(5) An applicant may be funded for only one Provincial Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund project in the same calendar year.
(6) Applicants who have already been awarded any Provincial Basic and Applied Basic Research Fund project for 2025 are ineligible to apply for this Joint Fund.

b. Collaborative research requirements
(1) The collaborative institutions involved shall not exceed 2 in number;
(2) If the project involves participants affiliated with institutions other than CUHK(SZ) (including graduate students), their institution(s) will be regarded as collaborative research unit(s). In such cases, the applicant must sign a collaboration agreement with each collaborative research unit before?the application submission deadline. This agreement must clearly define intellectual property rights, fund allocation, and division of responsibilities. (Signed collaboration agreements must?be uploaded to the application system);
(3) For overseas participants, he or she shall upload the “Informed Consent Letter” (template can be downloaded from the system, which must be signed by the overseas participant AND the applicant) to the application system.?Hong Kong and Macao participants may be involved either as individuals or through collaborative research units.

c. Other requirements
(1) If the research content involves research ethics or science security, compliance documents shall be provided as attachments.
(2) Any requirements of relevant scientific research reviews, please refer to the CUHK(SZ)’s research review process of each committee as attached (Annex 2) and send the required materials and forms to each committee’s email?by Jun. 22, 2025?for assessment.

3. Procedure of application
Applicants shall fill out application forms in Chinese and upload supplementary documents(please refer Annex 4-attachments list) online via the application system (?http://pro.gdstc.gd.gov.cn/?)?on or after?Jun. 6, 2025, without submitting any hard copies.

4.Deadline
a. Applicants shall upload all required attachments and submit application forms online by?17:00 on?Jul.?1, 2025, the RAO will review and feedback;
b. Applicants shall submit application forms (final version) online by?12:00 on?Jul.?3, 2025, without submitting any hard copies.
