The Young Researcher Startup Program supports early-career researchers in conducting innovative scientific research by independently selecting topics and freely exploring within the field of mathematics.

The program focuses on the following key areas:

1. Artificial Intelligence

Interpretability research of artificial intelligence models, graph combinatorial optimization problems based on artificial intelligence, manifold heuristic optimization methods for high-dimensional complex optimization problems, complex engineering cost prediction based on artificial intelligence, etc.

2. Low-Altitude Economy

Mathematical models and algorithms for drone path planning, mathematical analysis and prediction of medium-low altitude meteorological data, spatiotemporal distribution modeling of medium-low altitude economic activities, drone image fusion, segmentation, and recognition constrained by partial differential equations.

3. Healthcare and Medicine

Medical image generalization, functional imaging analysis and feature recognition algorithms, multi-gene mining for complex diseases, targeted drug screening for complex diseases, motion reconstruction of complex human structures based on deep learning, etc.

2 years (starting on July 1, 2025, or July 1, 2026). One-time grant of RMB 50,000 per program.

Applications must be submitted online via the "Guangdong Province Science and Technology Business Management Sunshine Government Service Platform" (http://pro.gdstc.gd.gov.cn). All required supporting documents must be uploaded and submitted the application by noon?on June 2, 2025. No paper submissions are required.

1. Applicants must be full-time researchers at CUHK-Shenzhen. Each applicant may submit only one proposal.

2. The following circumstances shall prohibit application:

(1) The applicant is hosting?3 or more ongoing Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Program (special projects, funds, etc.) projects?(excluding platform-based projects, universal policy-based projects, and post-subsidy projects).

(2) The applicant has?1 or more Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Program (special projects, funds, etc.) projects that have failed to complete acceptance for 1 year or more?(excluding platform-based projects, universal policy-based projects, and post-subsidy projects).

(3) The applicant has committed serious scientific research integrity violations and been publicly notified by science and technology administrative departments at all levels.

(4) For young investigator startup projects, the applicant’s age exceeds?38 years old (male)?or?40 years old (female)?(both as of December 2025).

3. No collaborating institutions are allowed for this program.

4. Foreign nationals must upload a signed "Informed Consent Form for Foreign Nationals" in the online system (templates available for download).

5. For projects involving research ethics or technology security (e.g., biosafety, information security), applicants must submit required materials and forms to the relevant university committees by?May 29, 2025. Approvals must be obtained before submitting the application:
