The NSFC has initiated program application for?International Collaboration Fund for Creative Research Teams 2024. Details of requirements are as follows:

1.??Types of grant

The International Collaboration Fund for Creative Research Teams (hereinafter referred to as the ICFCRT) is upgraded from the predecessor Pilot Group Program of the Research Fund for International Senior Scientists (PGP RFIS-III). This fund aims to enhance international scientific collaborations and support pioneering scientists with foreign citizenship to construct and lead research teams in China’s mainland and carry out creative basic research and applied basic research on self-selected topics within the funding scope of NSFC.?

2.???? Funding fields

Including mathematics and physics sciences, chemistry sciences, life sciences, earth sciences, material sciences, engineering, information sciences, management sciences, health sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies.

3. Funding amount

The grant provides a total direct cost of 6 million RMB per project and a total indirect cost of 1.2 million RMB per project. For projects of Mathematical Sciences and Management Sciences, the direct cost is 4.8 million RMB per project and indirect cost is 1.2 million RMB per project.

4. Project duration

Projects are expected to start on January 1, 2025 and end on December 31, 2027 with a duration of three years.

6.????Procedure of application

Online application

Applicants shall fill out application forms online and upload supplementary documents via the application system ( ?http://grants.nsfc.gov.cn/egrantweb/ ??).

??For applicants who have no application account, please send your name, academic title, email address to?tanyihong@cuhk.edu.cn?by Feb. 15, 2023 to open account.

Paperless submission

In the stage of submission, applicants shall only submit reviewed application forms online, without submitting any hard copies.

7. Additional requirements on application

a. Applicants should complete online application form and proposal in English or in Chinese;

b. Applicant should also submit the following supplementary documents as attachments of the application form：

I. An agreement signed by the applicant and the CUHK(SZ). The agreement should use the template (Annex 3) and be signed by the applicant, applicant shall submit one hard copy of the agreement to RAO (Cx 801) by?Feb. 27, 2024?to apply for?the official seal of CUHK(SZ).

II. An employment contract signed between the applicant and CUHK(SZ); (Duration of the conctract needs to cover the duration of the project. If not, please contact research assistant of each school to apply for contract extension);

? Employment contract is not necessary during the application period, especially for those whose contract duration does not cover the duration of the project. But it is necessary if the application is approved.

III. No more than five representative papers(full text).

c. For Application Code 1, applicant shall select the full code including the last digit (four digits);

d. Any required scientific research reviews, please refer to CUHK(SZ)’s research review process of each committee as attached (Annex 2) and send the required materials and forms to each committee’s email address?by Feb. 24, 2024?for assessment. Certificates of ethical or S&T security review shall be upload to application system.

8. Deadline

(1)? Applicants shall submit application forms online by?Mar. 3, 2024, the colleges/research institutions will organize the preliminary review and feedback;

(2)? Applicants shall submit the revised application forms online by?18:00 on Mar. 8, 2024, the Research Administration Office will re-examine and feedback;

(3) Applicants shall submit application forms(final version)? online by?18:00 on Mar. 15, 2024, without submitting any hard copies.
